Get Acquainted with New Friend and Social Features coming 5/3 completing for all players 5/11

We’re modernizing Pogo with new and improved friend features, making it easier than ever to keep up with all your Pogo buddies.

These updates will begin 5/3 for some players and completing 5/11 for all players. Let’s take a look at the new features!

Clicking or tapping on the Friends icon now brings up more options, all updated in real time. See a green dot over the icon? That means you have friends online right now – or maybe even a new friend request to approve. With the new Your Online Friends menu, you can quickly join a friend in the same game and chatroom. We’ve also increased the number of friends you can have from 200 to 2,000.

And that’s just the start! Take a look at what’s new below:

  • Your Online Friends – This quick menu shows which of your friends are online and what they’re playing. Click or tap the “Join” button and you’ll instantly be transported to the same game as them. You’ll automatically join the same room in Chat as well.

To check it out, just click or tap the Friends icon in the top navigation menu, just to the left of your Favorite Games list.

If you see a green dot over the icon, it means you have friends online or new requests to review. If you have a lot of friends online, you can even search among them.

You may also notice the menu features two tabs – “New Friends” and “Online Friends.” Under the “New Friends” tab, you’ll be able to see and approve any pending friend requests.

To view offline friends or add new ones, you’ll need to visit the new Friends Page. You can get there by clicking or tapping on the “View All Friends” button.

  • Friends – Here’s where you’ll find a listing of all your friends, including those currently offline, along with any pending requests. If you’re looking to add some new friends, this is where you can search for their names and send out requests. You can also manage your blocked players list from here.

  • Privacy Mode – Need some quiet time in your favorite solitaire game? No problem! Just tap your avatar in the-top right corner of the navigation menu and toggle the “Privacy Mode” option to “ON.” Voila! You’re incognito and won’t show up as online to any of your friends.

Note: If you hop into Chat while using Privacy Mode, other players in the room will be able to see you there.

  • Improved Friending Process – On the new Pogo, friending is a two-way street. Before becoming friends with another player, they have to approve your request. If another player wants to become friends with you, you’ll have to approve their request. It’s a bit like a handshake, and it gives you control over who can friend you on the site and see when you’re online.

If you shared any existing two-way friendships on Pogo Classic — that is, you both friended each other — then you’ll find you’re still friends on the new Pogo. If you previously added someone but they didn’t add you, they will not appear on your friends list on the new Pogo. Send out a request and let them know you want to be friends!

We know some of these changes mean you might be missing some old friends. Don’t worry — your My Friends page on Pogo Classic will remain available to view until June, 2021. Please take some time to compare your new and old lists, and send out new requests to any missing friends.

Eager to add some new friends? You can get started by following these quick steps:

  1. Click or tap on the Friends icon in the top site navigation.
  2. Click or tap the “View All Friends” button at the bottom of the menu.
  3. From your Friends page, type or paste a screen name in the search bar at the top. If you remember the first five characters or more of another player’s screen name, you can also do a partial search.
  4. If a player is found, their name will appear in the results. Just click or tap on the “Send Request” button.
  5. If they approve the request, you’ll both be friends!

If you’re already in a game and chatting with other players, you can follow these steps to quickly request friendship.

  1. Click or tap on the name of another player in the chatroom to bring up their “Player Card.”
  2. Click or tap on the add “Add Friend” button.
  3. If they approve the request, you’ll both be friends!
