Tell us a little bit about yourself :
I was diagnosed with bipolar when I was 22, it was hard for me to accept that I had a mental illness. Pogo helps keep it at bay at times when Im feeling down, getting to chat with and meet others who have bipolar or know someone who has it, it helps alot. I have two sons, ages 16 and 12. I lived in Missouri most of my life, I have lived in Indiana for 3 years, and about a year ago I moved to Pennsylvania. I love to make others laugh, makes me feel useful in my life. I have a huge heart and I wear it on my sleeve, I at times get taken advantage of because of my niceness, but I refuse to change. I write poetry and been writing since I was a teenager. I also am a badge-aholic, i try to get as many as possible.

I have a sister-in-law with Bi-Polar and you seem to be handling yours better than her. It sounds like you have a great support system. I too was raised by a single parent mom. My dad we thought was bi-polar… but his came from being a POW and the horrible things he saw in the Korean war. We never saw our dad for 37 years. I commend you for being a dad. It may be hard to smile some days… smile anyway. I wish you all the love and the blessings in the world. It is so nice to meet you. Happy Holidays.
I hope to play a game or two with you if you see me come by and say hello
have a great day and smile
Hey Ric,
It’s very nice to meet you!! I’m Carl and I too live in Pennsylvania. I know what you’re going through so much! Not only do I suffer with it, but my niece, nephew, and sis-in-law all are bipolar. I’m also disabled because of a spinal disease that is terminal. I’d like to chat sometime with you. My screen name on pogo is Storm20ver(it’s a zero after the 2 just in case you were wondering). Look forward to hopefully chatting sometime with you!!
Take care
Carl mental illness runs in my family too. Schizophrenia and depression are the main ones. I do not know of any generation that it hasn’t affected.
Unfortunately I do have relatives that refuse to acknowledge that it exists.
Kudos to you, Ric, and all the others hers who accept it, and actively work to treat it. Wish more would be willing to admit that it exist and deal with it.
dont ever change beautiful man…..
Your picture made me smile, your upbeat attitude made me smile, your work is done!!! Keep on keeping on! I have written poetry and words for songs in the past. Don’t do it anymore. I had a poem published in a book and I still have three copies of it. Turned out it was really fake and I actually have the ONLY three copies they made special with my poem. Some things turn out to be rip offs and you have to be wary of it. Thankfully it did not cost me a bundle! Good to know a nice guy is on Pogo!
Congrats on your spotlight! :) Happy Holidays.
hi…Ric nice to meet you.. love your attitude ..never stop making people smile and laugh its the best medicine for anything..i too love meeting new people ..may i add you to my friends list..hugggs Strwbrydelisus…
You sound like a GREAT guy Ric,
I enjoyed reading all about you Ric. I like writing poetry too although I haven’t done so in quite a long time. Poerty is a great outlet for depression. Sometimes it’s really good to write down how you feel, and what better way to express it than in a poem. I too enjoy making people smile and laugh! As long as you are happy being you and comfy in your own skin, than do not change. God made you the way you are for a reason.
Nice to meet you Ric, I live in SW Indiana I suffer with PTSD tis such a fun thing not lol. Laughter does make the world a much better place! Stop n say hi sometime I’m BlackVelvet1992 here on pogo. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving

I love your pogo name. My son was also bipolar; plus he had paranoid schizophrenia. So happy to read that you are taking care of yourself and staying on top of you disease.
I have nothing but admiration for people who have a mental illness. They have a disease that is so stigmatized in our society. Glad that you try to help others.
Keep being yourself. Your mom is probably very proud of you. I think that she has raised a great son.
Forgot to add that I also deal with depression myself. So I do know a little bit about mental illness from having it, and from having dealt with it while my son was alive.
So good to hear you are dealing well with your bipolar disorder. My family has been afflicted with it also and it caused my son to take his life at the age of 19. Please, if your on medication, take it, it makes all the difference in the world. Keep toughing it out dear friend, we’re all here for a reason and yours just might be to help save lives through your strength and humor. GOD bless you.
way cool and nice profile my sister been on the ‘ dark side’ for close to 40 years, and she sounds something like yourself, want to make people happy, and deal with depression, by-polar / deep depression, and she amazes me period! always trying to help others and not caring about herself, I’ll look forward to catching you on p o g o wildandcrazyguy keep looking up! guy

Hey Ric, Love your attitude. Suffer with depression and anxiety myself. Positive outlook and laughter are hard to keep. Hope tp see you in a room on pogo. my pogo name is pammiej58.
Hello Ric ,
Nice to meet you .. if you want to add me to friends list my pogo name
is gldngrl350 we can play Yahtzee Party is one of my favorite games
Ric,
you have such a wonderful outlook on life despite your depression. It’s a shame most people don’t believe that depression is a real thing, my sister suffers from it and she has her good and bad days.
There’s a quote I would like to share with you that I have shared with others, when it was originally said it was about Death but it fits for Depression as well; and I have to change it up a little but it’s all good. Fight it, don’t let the bugger win. It’s from the episode “Grim Reaper” the show is M*A*S*H*, Hawkeye was the one who said it.
Hope you’ve enjoyed your Spotlight, and hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving
Very nice to meet you :)
Hiya Ric
I see you are settled in Pennsylvania. I lived pretty much all my life in Allentown and then moved to Egypt Pa so i do know the “Catty” area well :) I was told i was bi-polar too. Suppose to be hereditary but eh it is what it is. I’m not really depressed but the anxiety is the pits.
I always say “Did you ever think that we are the sane ones and everyone else is crazy?” LOL
Look me up sometime to chat or play online. Take care my friend. (coyotewild1)
Howdy Ric. I absolutely LOVE to be around someone with a good sense of humor..there is nothing like laughter!! My mother is bi-polar also. It was pretty rough at times growing up because we didn’t know what was wrong. You never really heard of that 30 or so years ago. Now that she has be diagnosed, is on medication & knows what is wrong, she does so much better! I guess we all do because we know how to help now. It has to be so scary knowing something is wrong with you and not knowing what it is! I hope we run into each other in Pogoland one day, shoot I may actually look you up hehehe. I can never get enough laughter! Have a nice day and thanks for a peek into your life. God Bless!
