Pogo has long been a great place for people to play games and meet friends. On occasion, people have actually fallen in love on Pogo! Every year around Valentine’s Day we highlight a few lucky couples who’ve found that their love of games has led to love.
Today we meet Anna and Trecia, two Pogo players who never expected to find love on Pogo, or anywhere online for that matter. Thankfully, Trecia had the good sense to interject herself into a conversation Anna was having with another player. That led to the story you’re about to read.
What are your first names? Anna and Trecia
What are your Pogo user names? sweetiefore, rynme2
Tell us a little bit about yourselves: We are both disabled. Anna has two daughters and three Grandchildren whom she adores. We have two cats, Scooter a grey tabby weighing in at 20 pounds and Rascal a young one who makes his name fit him perfectly with his antics. Anna’s biggest hobby is Pogo. Mine too for that matter. I enjoy painting and clay sculpture. We both love music.
Did you ever think you’d find love online? Neither of us thought we would find love again, much less online.
Were you hoping to? I was hoping for love to find me, and it sure did on Pogo. Anna was not looking at all. I had given up hope until the day I met Anna.
What game did you meet in? We met in Hog Heaven Slots
Do you remember which room? Rainbow Room
How long was it before you met in person? 2 ½ months
What was your first impression? OMG she is beautiful (rynme2) Anna’s first impression was “She’s mine”.
Where did each of you live at the time? I lived in Huachuca City, AZ, Anna lived in Erie, PA
Was there anything unusual about the circumstances in which you met? Oh my yes. Neither of us were talkers in the chat. I happened to be “listening” to a conversation between two players and had to interject.
Anna said she was a stroke survivor and I asked her if she was typing one handed. She said she was. We began chatting about her stroke and as she spoke I started to admire this woman’s tenacity. I could tell there was something special about her. We exchanged Yahoo Messenger names and talked all through the night. I told her to look up my rainbow roomies profile and she did the same. I say when she came back in the Hog Heaven room she was smiling. So was I, we have a lot of the same likes and dislikes on our profiles.
You see we both are very shy and for either of us to have started talking to each other in the chat was super unusual. This is what makes us feel this was fate. We talked on the phone 22/7 – had to get some sleep. Lol I say I loved her all my life it just took me 49 years to find her. Thank goodness for unlimited talk and text because both of us used it to the max.
Her voice was the first I heard each morning and her sweet breath was the last thing I heard every night before I went to sleep. Anna rode a bus to meet me in AZ in Feb. of 2012. Which is quite a feat being disabled and alone, 3 days on a bus. After meeting it was as if we knew each other all our lives. Talk about a perfect match made in Heaven. Hog Heaven for that fact. In Sept. 2012 I drove over 2,000 miles with two cats and lots of peanut butter sandwiches from AZ, to begin my life with my Anna. We now live together in Erie, PA and it is the happiest either of us have ever been.
How did your friends and family react when you told them you’d met someone on Pogo? Both our families were totally against it.
Do you plan on getting married? Of Course!!
Do you have kids together?Anna has two daughters
How about pets? Two cats, Rascal and Scooter
Do you have pet names for each other? If so, what are they? Sweetheart for my Anna and Darling from Anna for me.
Your favorite game? CLUE: Secrets & Spies
Your partner’s favorite game? Spades
What’s your favorite game as a couple? Hog Heaven of course
And who’s a better player? Anna Anna Anna
Cutest thing about your partner? Her smile (Anna). Her smile (Trecia)
What’s the sweetest thing you’ve done for her? Talked Anna to sleep every night over the phone since the first day we met on until I moved to PA and now I kiss her every night before we go to sleep.
And the sweetest thing he/she has done for you? Anna hides little love notes all over the house for me to find. One was even in the toilet paper roll lol.
Do you two have a “song”? If so, what is it? “You Are the Woman” by Firefall
What surprised you most when you met for the first time? Anna’s strength of character and all encompassing love.
Trecia’s compassionate nature.
What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Play Pogo and cuddle on the sofa.
What’s your favorite dish that he/she cooks? Sausage, gravy, homemade biscuits and eggs.
If you could take your partner anywhere in the world, where would you go? Nowhere, because we are in Heaven on Earth in our own home, who would ever want to leave there?
If you could surprise your partner with a special guest appearance by a celebrity the next time you went out for dinner, who would you choose? Melissa Etheridge
In your case, is it a situation of “opposites attract” or “birds of a feather flock together”? Birds of a feather.
Anything else you’d like to add? Anna suffered a stroke 14 years ago and is physically disabled and blind in one eye. I suffer from a mental disability. Even though the disabilities are different we understand each other like no one else could. It takes courage beyond belief to even consider looking for a partner being disabled. For us to have found each other is a miracle. Life may not be easy, but it is perfect for us. We love each other unconditionally and fully. A love like this is not found very often, we both cherish every moment we have together. Because you never know what the future holds.

I think it is wonderful to hear this story, it is similar to my story as well, I to met my love of my life on Pogo in High Stakes Pool room 003.. we would meet every morning and every night on pogo in the pool room, we talked for the longest time, then we too exchanged yahoo messenger names we talked for months finally caving in and giving each others phone numbers and we talked, talked and more talking by this time a year had passed by and finally I asked hi to move to Missouri from Arizona and he said ok, he took a Grey hound bus here and at the station I picked him right out of the crowd, I ran up to him and hugged him for the longest time, I brought him to my home and he has been here for 5 yrs now, It is no longer MY home it is OUR home .. He is my knight in shinning armour, I love him so very much.. I never thought I would ever meet such a kind and caring person like I met especially on a game site .. so ladies congrats and good luck and Pogo .. THANK YOU !!!!

I admit this interview brought tears to my eyes. It’s truly a beautiful story. Most people don’t understand finding true love online but it IS real. Krista80s Anna and I are truly Blessed to find each other. We weren’t even looking. I think love found us and brought us together. Disabilities are tough to live and deal with on a daily basis. But that does not make us any less of a perfect human being. All of us are worthy of being loved unconditionally. I am sure you will find your love, whether it be here on pogo or somewhere else. I think your story is great.I applaud your courage and strength in dealing with your disabilities. I also met the love of my life on pogo and he has been my best friend for 3 years now. I’m so happy for you two! You really give us a peek into true love that concurs all. I thought I had found my love on here and after being in a terribly abusive relationship for 2 years I thought I had finally found my chance at a real genuine gentle true luv. Than I found out she was not the person she said she was, turned out she was a he! and he got a real laugh outta stringing me along for a year and 2 months All he had to say was how stupid I was to put my love and faith in a person I’ve never met. It totally destroyed me and took me a long time to get over it cause I was mourning someone that wasn’t even real. That was over a year ago and I have serious trust issues, but listening to the two of you. Learning how you overcame your fears and finally surrendered to a great love and seeing the payoff it has been for you two. Has finally given me the strength to open myself up again. You guys seem to have great hearts and you luv cats so that’s just extra points in my eyes! Lol. Tysm for giving me hope again! Awwww Tish, I have had a similar situation, trusting someone who was stringing me along the entire time. Even met in person and still the facade prevailed. I know what some of the emotions you are going thru or have gone thru. I had given up on finding love, true love. But when I gave up, love found me. It is a true blessing to have met Anna. It only took 48 years to find her but thank goodness I did take just one more chance. I would like to be your friend on here in pogo. May I add you?? I will not till I hear from you.
