Jungle Gin Q&A with Pogo Sean!

Pogo Llama: Thank you so much for being here!  I know the players are VERY excited for Jungle Gin HD to join Early Access as it’s a big player favorite game! So how long has Jungle Gin HD been in development?
Pogo Sean: Hi Pogo Llama, it’s nice to be back. Thank you for taking the time to talk about our upcoming release of the fan-favorite Jungle Gin HD. Jungle Gin HD was in development for approximately four months. The team had a great time updating this title for Early Access.

Pogo Llama: Here is a question I know is on the mind of many Pogoians, “Will players be able to play with their friends?” If so, how will they be able to find their friends?
Pogo Sean: Yes, all our wonderful Pogoians will be able to play Jungle Gin HD with their friends. This was something the team wanted to ensure was easy to do since Friend Invites is a feature coming later. From the main menu Pogoians need only to select the Option “Find A Friend.” Once they’re taken to the next menu, any friends playing Jungle Gin HD will be sorted to the top of “Friend’s Table” list.

Pogo Llama: What are the main differences between the Flash version of Jungle Gin and the new HD version?

Pogo Sean:  For Jungle Gin HD the team set out to do the following:

  • Improve the graphics that follow accessibility guidelines to improve the readability of the playing cards.
  • Improve the overall quality of the sound effects and music.
  • Improve card control mechanics, which allow players multiple ways to interact with the cards. This also ensures the player has the same crontrol fidelity across PC, tablet and smartphones.
  • Improve in-game payoffs and feedback when players win, accomplished a goal or achieved a milestone. We wanted the smallest of victories to feel rewarding.
  • Ensure finding / playing with friends is as easy as possible.

Pogo Llama: Are there any power-ups in the new Jungle Gin HD?
Pogo Sean: No, Jungle Gin HD doesn’t introduce power-ups to the game. We wanted to keep the core gameplay intact since it is loved so much by our players.

Pogo Llama: The lizard located on the top left corner by the Knock button looks so cool. It’s eyes even move! Can you tell us a bit more about the art and how it came together?
Pogo Sean: The art style took a cues from the original game, but with a focus on increased clarity when it came to buttons and player actions. We wanted to ensure we:

  • Kept the focus on the foreground gameplay elements.
  • Made the buttons and intractable graphics clear to players.
  • Used a colourful and contrasting pallet.
  • Used colours and visuals as a way further connect players to the cards in their hands, their avatar/name and score.

Pogo Llama: What should players keep in mind as they progress through Jungle Gin HD?

Pogo Sean: We added 50 new ranks to the game, so players are now able to get to rank 100 with a new Badge awarded every 10 ranks. The art on the Badges really captures the Jungle Gin experience.

Pogo Llama: Is there anything else you’d like to share about Jungle Gin HD?
Pogo Sean: We hope all Pogoians have a blast playing through this freshly updated Pogo classic!
