Pogo Llama: Hello Pogo Terry! It’s really great to see you back here in the Pogo studios and I’m really excited to talk about your latest game, Dice City Roller HD!
Pogo Terry: Thank you and it’s great to finally talk about this game! I’ve noticed it mentioned in every Pogo Insider for quite awhile now and we’ve been excited to finally talk about it. We know this game has been highly requested from our players since we started remastering our classics.
Pogo Llama: I’ve playtested quite a bit of this game twice now and I really enjoy it! I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for several months now. Could you please share with us how long Dice City Roller HD has been in development?
Pogo Terry: Dice City Roller HD has been in development for roughly a year. We started working on it in 2019 and wanted to wait for the timing to be right since it’s a multiplayer game that worked with chat. Main development began around January of this year.
Pogo Llama: Are there any new features in Dice City Roller HD that you’d like to share?
Pogo Terry: We made this true to the original’s gameplay and feel, but also added the option to create your own private game rooms to play with your friends. You can also create a game with no auctions as well.
We also included a lot of quality of life improvements to the game like updated art and music, the ability to pull up the leaderboard during gameplay, a built-in How to Play guide, and, most importantly, a gameplay shortcut to cut down clicking and dragging dice.
Pogo Llama: A shortcut to cut down clicking and dragging the dice? How does that work?
Pogo Terry: After you place dice on your property cards, you may begin to see the remaining dice needed to complete that property card appear in the slots. When those dice appear in your roll, you can now just click on the target card and it zips the dice to the card for you without having to click and drag them. This cuts down time and it works great on mobile devices!
Pogo Llama: I’m looking at the requirements for some of the in-game badges. (Information can be found on the FAQ by clicking here <link>). What are Star Dice and how do you place them?
Pogo Terry: Star Dice are just that. Dice with a star on them that you can use to play as any number you need to fill in a match for a card. It even works with the shortcut I mentioned above!
Pogo Llama: How do the Auctions work in the game?
Pogo Terry: The auctions in Dice City Roller HD work the same as in the original. Players will bid on cards to earn more points or bonuses like extra dice for your next roll. The auctions is really where you can come up from behind or risk losing your place on the leaderboard.
Pogo Llama: Will table chat be coming to Dice City Roller HD?
Pogo Terry: Dice City Roller HD currently supports Pogo Chat, but will also support dedicated Table Chat based on the game session you are playing in. Table Chat is coming soon and it will work seamlessly like your existing chat.
Pogo Llama: Could you please speak to the art direction of the game?
Pogo Terry: Sure, we wanted to capture the feel of playing a classic board game with the casino feel of the original. Since the game also deals with earning property cards and auctions, Dice City’s best realtor, Diana, came on board to help players along the way and guide them.
Pogo Llama: What about the music and sound effects in the game? I remember the original had a unique sound to it!
Pogo Terry: This is a part of the game we’re quite proud of. When researching the original Dice City Roller, it was clear the music and sound effects to this game were unique and memorable. So the team made sure to capture that feel of the original audio and give it a contemporary feel. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Pogo Llama: Is there anything else you’d like to share with our fellow Pogo community about Dice City Roller HD?
Pogo Terry: Our team has worked incredibly hard, especially during these difficult times, to create a game that captures the original essence of Dice City Roller HD that we all hope you love and will continue to revisit with your friends in the years to come.
Like many of our previous releases, it was made with a lot of hard work and love to please our Pogo fans. We hope you enjoy it and please give us your feedback in the Pogo Forums. We read everything and constantly strive to improve our games.
