Club Pogo Member Memories: Meet authordahkme!

And we “Party On” with our Club Pogo 10 Year Anniversary, we get to meet another one of wonderful long-time Club Pogo members! Today we meet Dianna… at some point in the future we’ll all know her grandchildren!

First name: Dianna

Screen name: authordahkme

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am 54 year old female, I reside in Tennessee. I have one daughter and 3 grand kids. Spencer, who will grow up and play baseball for the Minnesota Twins. PJ, who will grow up and be a soccer player, and Mason who is a little bit too young for decision. I have a four-legged, black, furry dog whose name is Toto.

State, Province or Country? Tennessee, USA

Astrological sign? Sagittarius

How long have you been playing on Club Pogo? 10+ years

What was your first impression of Club Pogo? When Club Pogo first came about my friends of the Ladies Room in Word Whomp said they were not going to pay for a membership when we got most of the fun already for free. Well, low and behold, I am Club Pogo and I could not be happier. There have been times when I could not afford it, but I have it all under control now.

What was the first Club Pogo Badge you earned? As with everybody who joined it was the Club Pogo badge, but the first badge was North America Badge, in World Class Solitaire on Nov 4, 2004

What is your favorite Club Pogo game? My favorite game? Well that is like trying to pick a favorite child, or a favorite food? Just ask the impossible (ha ha). I would have to say my favorite game is Chess (who am I kidding). My game of choice is Jungle Gin (which can use more ranks).

What game do you find most for doing Club Pogo Challenges? Jungle Gin

What’s your favorite looking Club Pogo Badge? The 1000 badge. I like them all, but I like the ones that show how long I have been on.

Club Pogo has lots of features – Challenges, messaging, exclusive games, ad-free gaming… which is your favorite? Exclusive games that I can’t find anywhere else and challenges.

Do you have a favorite room? If so, which is it and in what game? No I don’t really have a favorite room, but I like the woman’s room and rainbow rooms.

Who’s your favorite Pogo character? I have a secret crush that I really don’t want to tell. Of course it’s Spike, or the Tiki Bros, or all of them.

What goes on in your mind when you’re deciding how to dress your Mini? I don’t really have any style for my mini, I just choose what I think would look good… and my beloved service dog Skeeter is represented.

Do you use Club Pogo Messages? And if so, have you ever sent a chain message? Yes I frequently message my overseas friend. No I have never sent a chain message and I will report any chain messages.

Do you have a favorite Club Pogo memory? If so, describe it… I would have to say meeting the ladies in Word Whomp is my favorite memory. I became homeless during the time and my good friend helped me out.

Have you made any long-term friends on Club Pogo? Oh loads of them, I recently had to delete all of my friends, and looking for new ones all the time.

Did you attempt to do the Quackadoodle Challenge before it was changed?  OMG don’t remind me, that badge was (almost) impossible!! I did the badge and 3 others that week. I know you are not supposed to give out passwords but these were my closest friends. I was at the computer all that week and I became quite grumpy at that. Whenever I am in a room and someone complains about a badge I say “It could be worse, it could be the Quackadoodle Badge!”

Have you ever forgotten to do something important because you lost track of time on Club Pogo? Yes, mostly it was homework or something silly.

What makes you a unique Club Pogo fan? I don’t think I am unique. I think I have grown while Pogo as grown. I graduated college the first time when I was 50 years old, and then I graduated again after I suffered a stroke. I was not able to roll (I am in a wheelchair) for graduation ceremonies.

Do you ever eat while you play? If so, what’s a favorite “Club Pogo” food? I drink mostly, I always forget to eat.

Do you read the Pogo News? If so, what do you like most about it? Yes, the letters are funny, and serious. I also read Nettie. She always “spot” on. She likes tea!

Popping balloons, swapping candy, or playing cards? Cards

Challenge Wednesday or Mini Thursday? Challenge Wednesday

Puzzle Games, Board Games, Word Games, Card Games or Solitaire? Solitaire

Have you ever had a life changing moment on Club Pogo? When I was in the old Word Whomp room, I mentioned the fact that I was about to be homeless in Dallas. My dear friend said to come here to Tennessee and she would help me out. I boarded the bus and arrived Labor Day 2001 and I have been here ever since. I also graduated college twice and suffered a stroke.

  • You seem like a very nice woman and I’m glad some friends came through for you when you were having hard times; But, that leads me to a question: Why did you say that you’re deleting your friend’s list if some of them have become long term friends (as the question asks)? I was a little taken aback when I saw your answer!

    • I was wondering the same thing. Not that it matters. I was just curious as to why? And in response to Sjaylbee, she didn’t say that she had to update her list or specifically remove members who no longer played… she said “I recently had to delete all of my friends.” “Had” to delete “all” of them??? I guess she had her reason and that’s all that matters. Glad to hear that she has found some helpful friends here through the years though. Good luck all.

  • Dear mesqueaky1, I’m thinking, as time rolls on, people quit or change their names on Pogo and she had to update her list. At least that’s the way I “heard” her. And might I add, God Bless her honesty, I just love it!!!

  • Wow, life can be rough, but you seem to have rolled with the punches and come through, Dianna. Hope you can enjoy being a member of Pogo for many years to come!

  • Congrads on the special 10th spot light player… not trying to be ugly in any way… why would you delete your friends doll.. I do hope no one was mean to you.. I can understand some may not be around.. did all of them do something that caused you to make um disappear.
Im thankful GOD helped you thru your stroke… yes thank the LORD also for friends that helped you when you were in need of some place to stay…. its hard to find friends like that these days….
Its so nice to know you have a sweet furry baby to help you out… GOD love um all.. our sweet fur balls can make us feel so loved an needed.. so glad you are ok now…
Please if you can answer why the deletion of all your friends.. please know Im not judging you in any way.. just inquiring mind must know… lol
you are a beautiful young lady that has made it thru tough times like so many of us…
    GOD BLESS
    Sandi N Jazzi Bear

  • I deleted almost all my friends for several reasons – most of them are no longer on pogo, some have lost club pogo so they are not on anymore, ect ect ect. Sjaylbee was exactly right. It means I am looking for new friends.

  • Wow! What a story I am glad things are working out for you. I am so glad you have such great friends…seems like true friends. You know who your friends really are when you are in need. I sure wish I had the 1000th badge. I have all the weekly badges. I have emailed POGO to find out why but they haven’t responded yet. SIGH….

    • If you’re the Lura from Badge Hungry, you’re KIDDING ME!!!!! (Shaking my blonde head at POGO)!!! After ALL you do for them!!!! I hope Pogo Bret sees this!!!!

  • Thank you all for your responses

    • I too am wondering why you have deleted all of your friends but after all, it’s your account and you have a lovely story. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished and being chosen for the 10th Anniversary Spotlight!

  • Sometimes life deals us a bad hand and we ask why me God? But we prove to every one around that we are tuff ladies and we have won with a impossible hand. You are a beautiful person and I hope I have a chance to play with you some day in pogo.

  • Awesome story as we all look back at the changes Pogo has made. I myself met the love of my life in Pogo 5 yrs. ago and lost him to cancer in Jan.. Their are more people on Pogo who are fighting battles everyday with some type of illness or disability. Including myself and Pogo is our outlet to keep our minds busy from the pain and discomfort we deal with on a daily bases. A lot of people are afraid to speak up for fear of being pitied by other’s and we don’t need pity. All we want is what Pogo is here for to play games meet new friends and have fun. That’s what makes a good day for everyone who has a severe illness or disabled. I had to teach my son ‘when his peers made fun of him ‘ he was born with Muscular Dystrophy that he had a handicap and was only as DISABLED as he allow’s himself to be and he was able to adjust his life to his peers. In Pogo we hide behind the computer like a safety net sadly to say most do in that fear of being reject by other’s or having them think we’re looking for pity.

  • Quackadoodle badge? Which one was it

  • It was for QuickQuack and it was really really hard. They extended the badge limit for 3 weeks instead of 1 week. After that it was changed – which upset quite a few people.

I want to say the original was getting 1000 spins or 1000 tickets – Now it is get 10 JP spins,

    • I checked my Pogo Journal for back then (yes I have a Pogo Journal) and it was 100JP Spins and took me over 15 Hours to do mine, I also did 3 more that week, and yes it was tough. But 1000? No Impossible. I also have my 1000 badge in two Club Pogo names. Smallfly37 aka Midge

      • Ok so I added an extra zero – I knew it was hard and I did 3 (4) counting mine. I think pogo went crazy that week. LOL

  • Thats a really inspiring write up Authordahkme
Congrats to you bein in the Spotlight and happy gamin to you!

  • Congrats on being chosen for the spot light , The one before U was also from TN, Yeaaaaa, TN rocks!!

  • Dear Dianna

I can really relate with you because i too have been homeless during the time that i’ve been with Pogo. I lost over 95% of everything in my life, and more. I broke up with someone. I was robbed. I had to get a late term abortion because my body couldn’t physically handle carrying a child full term. I had to give up my 3 cats that i raised from a week old. A source that owed me 2 thousand dollars didn’t pay me back. All of this transpired in 1 month!

I didn’t have any friends or family to help me, so i had to trudge along on my own. It was very hard on me because i am partially disabled. Lower back pain, pain in all 4 of my lower limbs, fibromyalia, central nervous system damage, and brain lesions. It was so bad i almost put a gun in my mouth.

Enough about that! I made it thru it. I don’t know how. But i did. Maybe it had something to do with those conversations i had with my mother, when she was alive. I haven’t been suicidal in 4 years. Haven’t even thought about it. Actually! Now i am more afraid of dieing, because i have so many wonderful plans, and i want to accomplish them all. And everybody says i look great for being 50.

I also am well educated. A BS, MS, and several different trades, and self taught trades too. I am wierd. I love to learn.

I am a straight, divorced female, and i live with my cat. Her name is Sky.

I’m glad you made it through too! !!!MAY YOU LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!!!

    • GOD BLESS YOU CIMBAKAN GOD IS AWESOME HE LOVES US WHEN WE DO NOT LOVE OUR SELFS CIMBAKAN I WILL KEEP U IN MY PRAYERS PRAYER WORKS I HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERL TRADGIES IN MY LIFE BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD I MADE IT THROUGH I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS GOD BLESS YOU

  • Thank you for your words – they mean alot to me.

  • If u have a family and g-kids, why were u homeless?? Wont they take u in?? I am sorry u had a stroke but i did also and my kids took me in with no problems.and I had to go from New Jersey to California and they paid for it all, That is what kids should do for parents and g-kids also,,,,,,,,,,, any one that has some kind of family some one must have a room for them unless family quarrels,,,,,,, I was lucky, I then got myself to gether and I am back in NJ and living alone for 20 yrs, and they come to visit me or i go to them and they pay.

    • I WAS homeless about 10 years ago. I had the stroke recently. All if great now.

  • Great story Dianna! Congratulations on 10 years with POGO. By the way, I am forever adding and deleting friends from my friends list. Just like the previous comments, people come and people go. Nothing ever stays the same we can count on that. Thanks for sharing your story. God Bless you.

  • Congratulations on all your achievements; you are a Survivor! You are also very blessed to have made some wonderful relationships along the way. Thank you for sharing your story with us. You are an amazing lady who can give others hope. Life can be very tough, and your screen name says you have a story to tell: You just told it, and, what an uplifting story it is. God bless you & yours Dianna. Lovely to meet you.
