Blog Post #123 – January 28, 2020

Hello Pogians,

This is a once in a lifetime blog because it’s blog number 1…2…3! How fun is that? Almost as fun as the Magic Marathon was, am I right? So I’d like to ask you a question: If you participated in the Magic Marathon, please tell me how far you made it and how many Badges you won. It’s a humble brag time!

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.)

Q. What system specifications do I need to play on Early Access and the HTML5 games?

A. What a great question as I just updated our system specifications guide! For the most optimum Pogo playing experience, please click here. You can also reference this on the Early Access FAQ page.

  • Why can’t I play GIN with my friend???? Bring the chat bar back

    • Hello!
For more how-to-play information about Jungle Gin HD, including step by step images, please click here for the Jungle Gin FAQ. Thank you for playing!

  • I want to know if we are going to get rooms so that we have the option of play with our friends. What is the point of sitting and playing by yourself? I don’t understand how Pogo feels that is enjoyable. The new graphics are childish, we can’t see our friends, and in general I think you have ruined Pogo with this new format. There are too many free sites to play to make this site so user unfriendly. I don’t see myself renewing after my current subscription.

    • It is my hope that you do not cancel your Pogo membership. You’re an appreciated part of the Pogo Community and it would be a heartfelt loss to us. However, if you do choose to cancel, I suggest that you come back from time to time and check out all the new things we have on the way. As a registered user, you can enjoy some games and be up to date.
The Pogo team and I understand you are upset due to some of your favorite Flash games and features retiring. This decision was made as Java and Flash are being phased out across the Internet. While the retirement date of Flash is stated as end of 2020, please understand that the makers of Flash, Adobe, are retiring features within Flash prior to that. These features may be needed to play Pogo games. The Pogo team is working overtime to transfer over player-favorite Flash and Java games before this happens. This also means they need resources to do so and supporting Java and Flash games are not conducive to that.
The even better news is your favorite Java or Flash games and features may not be gone forever. The team and I are here listening and reading your game requests for potential future HD transfer. We have a number of new and transferred games in the works. I will always keep you posted on the Pogo Insider with all game developments.
Thanks again for reaching out to me about your feelings on the Flash game retirements. I am here and listening to you all.

  • DEAR POGOLAMA…IT IS SAD TO ME THAT I HAVE LOST MANY FRIENDS THAT I HAVE MET ON POGO IN GAMES WHERE WE CAN PLAY MULTI PLAYER GAMES, CHAT WITH THEM AND ALSO HAVE OTHER FRIENDS JOIN IN. AS TO DATE I HAVE ALREADY LOST 8 FRIENDS THAT HAVE NOT RENEWED THEIR MEMBERSHIP AND MANY MORE THAT WILL NOT RENEW WHEN THEIR MEMBERSHIP COMES DUE…I KNOW THE TEAM IS TRYING TO COME UP WITH SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT YOUR ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS ARE VERY VAGUE. HOW IS IT THAT OTHER GAME SITES HAVE MULTI PLAYER GAMES SUCH AS SPADES, EUCHRE, CANASTA ETC, AND THEY ARE STILL IN FORCE ? I REALLY WISH THAT YOUR TEAM CAN COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO OUR DILEMMA.
    THANK YOU

    • Thank you for your feedback, Gabby! I’ll let you know more information when I have that available. Thank you.

  • I have a question about the casino slot games. I know they will be going away in March. If they are brought back at some point in time as HD, will our coins that we have accumulated be brought forward with them? I have accumulated quite a few and would hate to have to start all over again. Thank you.

    • Hello sissyannr,
As these would be new games, the previously accumulated coins would not transfer over to any HD version. Thank you for asking.

  • Why aren’t my comments being posted?? This has been happening for months and months! As of right now there are over 400 posts. When I posted there were over 300 posts. So over 100 posts were posted since I wrote in and mine isn’t posted. WTH? I’m beginning to think y’all are racist! Either that or y’all don’t like my posts. But either way it’s VERY POOR customer service!

  • Hello,I joined Pogo back in 08 strickly to play Euchre my all time fav in game or when Friends came over. The Pogo version was a real eye opener filled with all kinds of ppl some good others not so much.I would like to know if this game is coming back like you brought back others.Have a groovy weekend.

  • Hi Pogo LLama, thank so much for all your time and help hints you give us. Please tell the pogo team to bring pogo bowl to the new site with chat on the side, I have been in bowling leagues for 12yrs and have made many great friends would be sad to loose this.

  • Will you have a bowling and bingo game to replace the ones we love? like bingo luau & everybody wins?
It’s not everyone who cares for badges, what else is there for us,with no tokens to earn.
    Thank you for listening.

  • Two of my favorite games, Everybody Wins Bingo and Bingo Luau, will be retired in March as they require Java and Flash. Are there any plans to transfer them so they can be played on the new Pogo? I do not like any of the other Bingo games that are currently available on your new format.

  • Can you please bring back:
    Thanksgiving Legendary Badges:

Canasta – Jar of Goodness Badge
Meld 22 Jokers in 2 weeks!
Win this badge plus 2,000 tokens.

Can you bring this one back out, its for canasta.
Since Canasta is retiring there are NO mix-n-match badges for that game on sale.

That badge is black and white with a COLOR icon. PLEASE can you bring it back.

  • Pogo_Llama I READ EVERY BLOG THAT COMES OUT AND I SEE THE SAME THING EVERY SINGLE TIME, WHEN SOMEONE HAS SOMETHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT POGO YOU ARE QUICK TO ANSWER THEM, BUT YET WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT CERTAIN GAMES LIKE, PINOCHLE,EUCHRE,HEARTS,POOL,YOU NEVER GIVE A SPECIFIC ANSWER, OR NO ANSWER AT ALL,WELL DUH, THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS POGO PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW,BUT YOU ALWAYS AVOID THE ISSUE,GIVE US ANSWERS AND STOP BEATING AROUND THE BUSH,JUST BE HONEST WITH US,ARE WE GETTING THE GAMES BACK WE ASK FOR,WILL THERE BE A LOBBY IN THE GAMES,WILL WE HAVE A FRIENDS LIST TO SEE WHERE OUR FRIENDS ARE LIKE WE HAVE NOW,WILL OUR FRIENDS BE ABLE TO COME TO A TABLE JUST TO SAY HI AND VISIT, THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO US AND WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANSWERS,DON’T LEAVE US HANGING, ALSO I SEE WHERE MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING THESE NEW GAMES YOU ARE OFFERING US ARE MORE FOR KIDS,WELL I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THEM,COME ON POGO WE ARE ALL ADULTS HERE MOST LIKELY FROM MID 40’S TO 80’S KID’S WERE NOT,OH AND YES I AM ALSO A LONG TIME POGO MEMBER STARTED WHEN IT WAS POGO IN NOV 2003,THEN IT CHANGED TO CLUB POGO,BOTTOM LINE HERE IS JUST GIVE US ANSWERS WE ARE LOOKING FOR, AND OH YES I CAN BET MY BOTTOM DOLLAR YOU WON’T POST THIS BECAUSE YOU HONESTLY DON’T KNOW THE ANSWERS

    • Hello mstychrsty,
Thank you so much for your comment.
All details and news on upcoming games and features can be found here on the Blog page and specifically in the Construction Zone section of the Pogo Insider. That is a section I created for all Pogoians to be kept informed of the latest Pogo news. Aside from what is posted on there, I do not have the information so am unable to provide you with answers, unfortunately. However, when I do have information, I will be sure to update the blog. Thank you for being so passionate about Pogo!

  • I have read through the comments and have yet to find an answer on whether there will be chat option for players in the new Access platform? When I arrived over a decade ago, one of the main draws of keeping my paid membership was chatting and meeting new friends on Pogo. I am due to renew on May 1st. I will decide whether to renew after the March changes. I already am aware of the platform changes in browsers ie Flash etc etc. I would like a specific direct answer as to whether there will be chat available in each of the games under the new platform? Thank you.

  • I just have 5 words for you LOTTSO LOTTSO LOTTSO LOTTSO PLEASE !!!!!!!!!

  • DOMINOES … DOMINOES … PLEASE BRING IT BACK TO MAKE ALL OF US HAPPY THAT HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS PLAYING IT.

  • POGO LIAMA MY POST SAYS YOUR COMMENT IS AWAITING MODERATION,THERE IS NOTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT IT JUST FACTS,PLEASE CONSIDER AT LEAST READING IT AND ANSWERING IT FOR ME AND OTHER POGO PLAYERS, THANK YOU

  • By making weekly challenges that can only be played on the new pogo, it just makes me hate it more. Terrible website, almost impossible to find anything there and so childish looking. If I want to watch cartoons, I will turn on PBS kids shows.

  • Hello Pogo Llama, I just want to say that I am disappointed with Snowbird Solitaire – if you cannot get a level after playing it several times, you have to buy extra cards. I feel that since I have been playing Pogo since 1999, pay for three accounts and have spent a LOT of money on badges, badge albums, gems, etc, I will not play those games and will seriously reconsider if my three accounts will be renewed.

  • Got all 30 of the free challenges done on the last challenge. When are we going to get more levels on Mahjong Sanctuary? I’m at level 500 and am getting no more feathers or stars. Would love to keep going on this game! Thanks for all the free gifts in December.

  • To Whom It May Concern,

I’m a long time Club Pogo member choosing to post this comment from my free account.

I have a question about our slot game coins. What is going to happen to the coins we purchased in order to play the coin slot games? Many members also purchased coins in games like Poppit Sprint. I do realize these games are flash and they will be retiring in March. There was never an option to purchase Tokens for slots so I understand removing tokens because they were only awarded for playing the games and hold no monetary value. If EA/Pogo brings the coin slot games back in HD form in the future, it’s not fair that we lose our coins we purchased with GEMS.

I feel long-time club members should be awarded a one time (lump sum) bonus of some kind (new award system points for example) for their MANY YEARS OF CLUB LOYALTY. There really needs to be more of an incentive for long-time club members to renew because we’re losing so many games and features that we love.

    • Hello Doglover,

Thank you for your question on slot coins. The coins from the slot games will retire with the slot games that are scheduled to retire in March.

  • Is there any chance Trivial Pursuit will be back as HD? I love doing that every morning to keep my mind sharp. I sure will miss it. I love seeing how much my 80-year0ld mind retains.

  • Oh, yes, and no mention lately of chat. Are you ever going to fix the chat? If not, I may not need to worry about what games you have anyway.

  • I cannot make it through level 10 I sweet tooth town..help

    • Hello Boopboopfh,
I am so sorry you’re having such a hard time with Mahjong Santuary. Have you had a chance to ask your questions on the Sweet Tooth Town Pogo Forums thread? There are some very knowledgeable Pogoians over there that may be able to help you out.

      Thank you!

  • EA you have ruined POGO. When I get bored a get on and play and try to win as many tokens as I can. Now we only win tokens on games you put on. A VERY BORING SITE NOW. Thinking of dropping you too. And this was a site which many adults play and the games you have changed are BABYISH. A very unhappy player!!!!!!!!!!
