Blog Post #116 – October 22, 2019

Hello Pogoians!

It’s hard to believe we’re already passed the midpoint of October! By the time we get to my next blog, Halloween will have passed. Here on Pogo, we’re still smack-dab in the middle of the Ghostly Gathering Treasure Hunt. As a reminder, if you need help with the clues, there is a dedicated thread in the forum called SPOILERS for Ghostly Gathering. This is the only thread allowed that contains spoilers, since many players like solving the clues on their own. Thanks for keeping your Ghostly Gathering spoilers in the right place.

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

  • Payday FreeCell HD is coming soon!

Website updates:

  • Starting back on October 18th, 2019 , you may have noticed a new prompt on Pogo asking you to verify your age. This applies to all non-Club Pogo members, including guest users. Club Pogo Members do not need to verify and can simply sign in to avoid seeing the prompt.
  • Older Flash-based games from Pogo retired on 10/8. For a full list and more information, please see this article.
  • Pogo Prizes retired on September 30th. Players have until October 22 to claim their prizes. Please see this article for more information.
  • You asked for a better Pogo, so we’re building it together! Click here to find out more about the new Pogo experience.
  • iWin Downloadable Game Center retired from Pogo as of August 27. Please click here for further information.
  • Internet Explorer 11  is no longer supported for HTML 5 games. Please note the messaging on the HTML 5 games. It reads like this:
  • Flash and Java Retirements – Java and Flash, two technologies that have powered Pogo games for many years, are being phased out across the internet. Support for Java has already been dropped from most web browsers, and Flash support will be discontinued by 2020. Pogo and EA have no control over this change in web technology. Because of this, Pogo is retiring some of the older Flash-based games from Pogo on October 8. (Please note the date change)
    • For the full list of games and additional information, please click here
    • For games that retired on June 4, please click here.
    • For games that retired on July 2 please click here.
    • For games that retired on July 30, please click here.

We know some of you purchased Challenges for these games you have not had the opportunity to complete. If you don’t get them done before they retire, the Badges will be automatically awarded to you shortly after the games retire.

Please note that while these games are going away, there is always the possibility some will be updated and brought back later. Keep your eyes on the Pogo Insider for more game news!

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

Q. What is going to happen to our Minis on the new Pogo experience?

A. A few weeks ago, we released a roadmap of what is to come on the new Pogo experience. I sifted through each and every comment you made. I read about which games you’d like to see be ported to HTML5. I read about how much you’re enjoying your Early Access experience. I read about what you are not enjoying in the Early Access experience. One of the most common questions of all, though, was “what’s going to happen to my Mini collection?”

I talked to my teammates and wrote a blog article all about it for you on Tuesday, October 15. You can read that here.  To summarize, I realize how much you feel connected to your Minis as a source of personal expression here on Pogo. I hear you, and I’m relaying all of your feedback to my team here at Pogo. They are looking at many options of including that kind of creative expression on the new Pogo. So please, keep letting me know your feedback and I will keep on advocating for you!

Thank you for reading this just before Halloween edition of the Pogo Insider! When we meet again, on November 5, Halloween will have passed and we’ll be on our way into the 11th month of the year. My grandma has already begun her holiday bread baking!

Have a great and fun week here in Pogo!

  • I have been a member of Pogo since 2001. When Pogo came out with the minis I was hooked and joined the club mainly for the mini mes. Like another member stated, I am an elderly woman and the minis take me back to those days of paper dolls and dressing my dolls. Please don’t take the minis away, it is the first thing on my agenda in the morning to change my outfit and background. So many changes going on it is hard to keep up anymore and to be happy with the changes. PLEASE KEEP OUR MINIS.

  • I love the new Paranormal Destinations! Thanks for that game! I also love my mini. It was one of the things that drew me to Pogo and kept me here over the years. Please let us keep them!!! Thanks for the hard work you are doing!

  • Will Big City Adventure and Undiscovered World be changed to the new format? Those are my favorite hidden object games. Would be sorry to see them retired.

  • thousand island solitare back so we can play it

  • Please do not do away with our Pogo Mini’s. I have played Pogo for over 10 years. My daughter got me started and I got hooked right away. Besides loving the games and getting badges the thing I enjoyed the most was the mini mall and my mini. I changed it every day according to the season and what I was doing that day. It became a habit that my family and friends checked everyone’s mini for the day to see what they were doing and how creative they were. The holidays were our most favorite. Decorating them was so much fun. I spent a lot of money on gems to buy mini mall stuff. I can’t believe you would take that from us. I can see you need change but some stuff like the mini mall and our mini’s shouldn’t be taken away. That really would not be fair. So PLEASE hear the people that are asking for this which we all have invested money into and let us have our Mini’s and our items that we have in our mini mall. Thank you

  • Hi Pogo_Llama
In your last blog I asked (and you answered) if levels 61-120 were going to be added to the other 5 buildings in Sweet Tooth Town, You said you were going to look into it. Did any new information come about? Thank you for all you do,

    • Hello ComedyMona,
Unfortunately I do not have any more information on new levels for Sweet Tooth Town. I Will keep pressing for it, though. :)

  • Hiya Pogo_Llama,

I’m just dropping in for a moment to let you know how much I am enjoying 🦁Mahjong Sanctuary.🦒 I’d tried it a couple of times when it first came out but decided to wait for more tile selections to be added. Then I played a few times with the new tiles & found I really liked it but was too busy with other games & events to give it much play time. Then along came a challenge the 2nd week of October and I really dove in. I now LOVE the game.. almost as much as Quinn’s!! Almost. 😉

The graphics are beautiful. I love the sound effects with all the animal noises. There is just the right mix between the fast pace of the game itself & the relaxed & fun atmosphere of the Sanctuary. Sir Barnaby & Harmony are a delight & I love to be congratulated by them when I win a level! I enjoy spending time watching my animals as I add improvements to their habitats! I love that you can interact with the animals. And I just discovered the side tab pull out menu that takes you to each exhibit! Wonderful!

I can see that so much thought & work has gone into this game to make it unique & quirky & oh so fun. I love the extra’s that keep it fresh.. the vines & cutters, the frozen tiles & the rain etc. And the badge for the recent Spooky event is soooo cute & bright & colorful!

Please let Pogo Terry & the team know that I think you’ve outdone yourselves with this game.
🌺Thank you for bringing it to us!🌺 😎

    • Hi One Happy Joy!

I am definitely going to let Pogo Terry and the team know your feedback. I really appreciate you writing in about this and I’m glad you are enjoying the game so much!
Which is your fav animal so far?

  • On the last blog, I asked: “…Could the programmers please add the date and puzzle difficulty on the actual puzzle page, perhaps above or below the banner that shows the time spent on the puzzle and points accrued? It would be really helpful.”

Your answer was: “Hi nla8712, That’s such a great idea! I hadn’t thought of that, but knowing you do that makes me so happy. I’m glad you’re able to do it. Please know that with Early Access, you will be able to play Pogo Daily Sudoku on your phone or tablet.
I will forward your request to the programmers…”

I know that if the programmers do add that, it will take time, so I’m not writing about that. I just wanted to say that I already am able to play Pogo Daily Sudoku and many other games on my phone by using the Puffin browser which is available at the Google Play Store. The reason I would like the date and difficulty printed out on the PDS pages is because I like to have the printed pages to work on while I’m out of town where I can’t get phone service or don’t want to use up my battery, or when I’m at places that request all phones to be turned off. Also, I like to save some of the puzzles so I have the solutions in hand for use on badges so I don’t have to do all the puzzles another time.

So mainly, this message is to tell you that a lot of Pogo games work on the Puffin browser.

Thanks, Pogo Llama, and have a good weekend!
