Blog Post #113 – September 10, 2019

Hello Pogoians!

It’s September! The leaves are just starting to change in some regions of the world, some more than others. The weather is cooling off just a bit, and the kids are back in school. And Quinn’s Aquarium is Game of the Month. Yup, it’s almost Fall here in Pogoland.

I journeyed to Lassen Volcanic National Park over Labor Day weekend. As I was out in nature, I started to think about gratitude. I’m so grateful for the changing weather…from the beauty of all the seasons and the different lessons I learn through each. I experienced many seasons on my trek up Lassen Peak! It was beautiful and I was beyond grateful to be able to be in that particular moment of time with everything going on around me.

And that is how I feel here at Pogo, too. There is soooo much that I am grateful for here on Pogo! We just celebrated the Pogo 20th birthday, 16 years of Club Pogo, and launched three games in August. We have more games coming in October and a new Pogo experience is on the way. (Want a sneak peek? Sign up below for a chance to take part in the Pogo Early Access Experience). And you, the Pogo community. I could not be more grateful for such a great group of players. Thank you all so much for being a part of Pogo. For commenting on the Pogo Insider, for playing Pogo games, for trying out new games and finding new favorites, and for your ongoing support and love of Pogo. There will always be changes in life, and together, we will get through them and they are going to be fantastic!

Here’s a photo I took from the top of Lassen Peak with Mount Shasta in the distance.

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

  • Letters from Nowhere will be retiring on October 8. Please click here for further information.
  • If you are experiencing a technical issue with the SCRABBLE game, please report the details in this forum thread. We ask that you provide as many details as possible so our technical team can investigate.
  • iWin Downloadable Game Center has retired from Pogo as of August 27. Please click here for further information.
  • Internet Explorer 11  is no longer supported for HTML 5 games. Please note the messaging on the HTML 5 games. It reads like this:

  • Flash and Java Retirements – Java and Flash, two technologies that have powered Pogo games for many years, are being phased out across the internet. Support for Java has already been dropped from most web browsers, and Flash support will be discontinued by 2020. Pogo and EA have no control over this change in web technology. Because of this, Pogo is retiring some of the older Flash-based games from Pogo on October 8. (Please note the date change)
    • For the full list of games and additional information, please click here
    • For games that retired on June 4, please click here.
    • For games that retired on July 2 please click here.
    • For games that retired on July 30, please click here.

We know some of you purchased Challenges for these games you have not had the opportunity to complete. If you don’t get them done before they retire, the Badges will be automatically awarded to you shortly after the games retire.

Please note that while these games are going away, there is always the possibility some will be updated and brought back later. Keep your eyes on the Pogo Insider for more game news!

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.

Q. When will the multiplayer card games be added to the Pogo HD Catalog?

A. Canasta, Bridge, Jungle Gin and Cribbage (my grandparent’s fav) are just a handful of multiplayer games I’ve heard being requested here on Pogo. I’ve read each and every request and I appreciate you letting me know which games you like best here on Pogo. I then take that information to the team and let them know. So, where are the multiplayer HD games? Well, SCRABBLE was the first Pogo multiplayer game and the team is working on making new ones. It is a process, though, so that all takes a bit of time. And as always, please be assured I will let you know when they are coming. Thank you!
Thank you so much for reading this week’s Pogo Insider biweekly blog. I will return again on September 24 with more Pogo updates and answers to your questions. If you have any (non-technical) questions, please ask me in the comments below and your question may be selected for the Insider Question.

Thanks again and I am so grateful for you all!

  • It would he nice to see SPADES updated to the html5 version. I do know that is a very popular game on pogo. I personally like pinochle and would love to see that in the future. I also think many love the hidden object and hope they will be worked on….maybe undiscovered world so people can play on ipad. thx pogo

  • I love and miss keno so much played it all the time hope it comes back also loved crazy cakes hope that comes back as well thank you so much pogo

  • i did post under forums on general comment but wanted to get word out that many people cannot afford to buy a new computer just to play pogo but there are other options – mainly the chromebook first brought out by google but acer makes one now and maybe hp – they may run around $150 or a little more but you can play your pogo games on them – the drawback i found was a small screen but i think now some a bigger screen – also you can find windows 10 in a tablet by microsoft called surface which you could play pogo but i think the chromebook is a good answer to low income people on pogo – also check out walmart they do have chromebooks and they do have layaway for electronics – hope this helps people with aging computers

    • I got an acer chromebook from my son for Christmas 2 years ago. I love it and have been playing all my favorite Pogo games on it with no problems. The screen is about 15 inches X 9 inches.

  • I am so happy this morning on Sept 12th . I woke up to all three of my favorite games on Daily Challenges. THANK YOU POGO> You are the greatest.

  • In the new From France to Love games I found an error. When you do the one where you find the differences there is an object in the far back of the picture that’s white and kind of looks like a bird house . the one has a black hole in
the middle the other one does not.

    • Hi Strayer,
Thank you so much for reporting this. Could you please tell me which episode this was on? Thank you!

  • Pogo Llama–could you please pass along some advice to the developers of the last Hidden object game? The items are small–way way way too small. I have a 20 inch screen monitor, so full screen games (like word whomp) are really in your face, but I had a hard time seeing anything in the scenes–240 items is not going to happen.

    • I agree with this. The images are so small even with using a magnifying glass they are difficult to find.

    • I agree I wear my glasses but still cannot see those tiny items…

    • I found it hard to see the items too but got the badge easily by replaying spot the differences over and over. They always remain the same 12 items and are easy to remember….hope this helps.

    • Hi Wincky,
New Solitaire Gardens content is released every month on the 15th. Only a few more days to go! :)

  • Someone, somewhere in a Forum said there was street named POGO, but did not say where. I googled it and found it in Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 …

  • Yay! I love Quinn’s Aquarium. It’s my favorite game now that DCR is gone. I hold out hope that it might come back but there’s always Yahtzee ;)

  • Hi
Loved your picture, thank you for sharing. Also many thanks for the dog and cat games, they are so much more fun than winning a number (yawn). Hope that some day the mini series will be back, really enjoy playing “dress up”.
    Take care.
One more comment. I agree with others that some of the object games have objects so small that I have given up on trying to find them and they are to cluttered also.

  • Thank you pogo Llama for your great and beautiful pic, that must have been amazing…and stating that you are so grateful for just being there is wonderful to hear…My new fav game is quinn..What a great game…would love to see spades go HD…Have a blessed weekend and ty for always being there for us!!nanavallo(Val)

  • Hi there.. Every morning I woke up and play Canasta, sudoku, bingo, Solitaire Gardens , Jet Solitaire, Quinn’s Aquarium, Claire Hart, and Jungle Gin. Smile..

  • Pogo LLama, what an amazing pic you posted above.

  • Very happy to see the Pogo has addressed the flash player option on the games I play. My Firefox browser no longer supports flash and glad that Pogo did a work around that by clicking on it to allow. Thanks. I hope that helps lots of members.

  • I think pogo does a very good job to make sure that the customers are happy ive met alof of good people on pogo even talk to them on the phone sooo here thanks pogo for what all that youve done and did very good It has brought tears and laughter to me id be lost without pogo take care and a job well done Js4629

  • Greetings all on Friday the 13th…..which is not unlucky for me. I was playing in Payday FreeCell and won 100 gems. Third time I’ve won gems but never this high an amount. Thank you very much Pogo and please keep the Jackpot Spin around for a bit. ;)

  • Hi, just wondering if Golf Solitaire will ever return in the newer version of Pogo. I know that there are many players like myself who had enjoyed this game for years and many a friendships have been had due to this game. Really miss the game and pray that Pogo finds a way for its Return!

  • Canasta!!!!! Need I say more…… daily must have game. Thank you Pogo and of course Llama.

  • Thanks again to everyone who works behind the scenes to create and explain the new games. I wouldn’t want to get along without you, Pogo_Llama! I’ll throw my two cents in and vote for my favorites for adapting to HD: Jigsaw Detective; Crazy Cakes; Makeover Madness, and Mahjong Escape; Trivial Pursuit; Spades, ……. More, but I’m thinking you might keep getting some suggestions.

    Thank you again!

  • I wanted to get the rest of the Cat bundle badges. On a very limited budget, I couldn’t get them all at one time and now that I have finished bundle one, I cannot find the rest. Are they gone forever?

  • I am a social person and have played Pogo for 14 years. MY favorite game was Pinochle, Canasta Gin Cribbage All cards… cant you please bring them back???… Thank you

  • overdue20 I would like you to consider removing the games that you can no longer play – for example all the java games. It would be great to not have to keep reading the game names on your lists of games. Thank you very much

  • I am Very Happy with the Magic Marathon. I would LOVE to see one created for Halloween Specificlly!!! Would Pogo consider having A Special Magic Marathon for Halloween??? I think it would be a good Idea!!

  • would like to see jungle gin and spades updated they are my favorites

  • Thanks so much for the new Tile Sets in Mahjong Sanctuary. I particularly love the Gems, and have gone back to playing this game now that it is easily visible, and pretty to look at.

  • So glad you got to enjoy Lassen Park! I grew up in that area, and have climbed Lassen multiple times.
The park is one that many people do not know exists. Thank you for the beautiful picture!
