Blog Post #109 – July 16, 2019

Hello Pogoians!

Welcome to the biweekly Pogo Insider blog!

Next Tuesday, July 23, marks the 16th anniversary of Club Pogo. To think that Club Pogo began 16 years ago on that day is amazing! The team here at Pogo appreciates each and every one of you. You’re the reason we’re still going strong, after all. Thanks again to all you Club Pogo members!

There’s so much fun going on in Pogo (as always!). We launched a brand-new event at the beginning of July called Treasure Chase. The third round of Challenges will be released tomorrow in this fun-filled quest! I ask that you please refrain from posting the answers to the clues so all players have a chance to solve them if they so choose. If you have a tip or trick, please click here to share it on the forum.

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

  • A new Badge Marathon begins soon. This “Mini-Marathon” will feature Challenges for two of our favorite Flash games and last for the usual duration of one week.
  • It is the 16th Anniversary of Club Pogo on July 23!
  • A 10-game Badge Marathon begins near the end of July.
  • Get ready to embark on the Summer Vacation Challenge Quest, coming in August.
  • On top of all that, Pogo turns 20 on September 1! Two whole decades of Pogo, can you believe it?

Game Updates

New Games

  • Four new games are on the way! Keep your eyes peeled for Mahjong Sanctuary, a new hidden object miniseries called From France with Love, plus Pogo Addiction Solitaire HD and Bookworm HD. Stay tuned for more info!

Website updates:

  • Gem limit update -The limit to how many Pogo Gems you can have in your account has been raised from 4,167 to 20,000. Thank you for all your feedback and requests.

  • In the near future,  we’re going to increase the number of Wednesday and Daily Challenges! Keep an eye out for more details.
  • Chrome Flash update – An upcoming Chrome browser update is bringing big changes to how Flash works. Click here for more information if you play Pogo Flash games using the Chrome browser.

  • Internet Explorer 11  is no longer supported for HTML 5 games. Please note the messaging on the HTML 5 games. It reads like this:
  • Flash and Java Retirements – Java and Flash, two technologies that have powered Pogo games for many years, are being phased out across the internet. Support for Java has already been dropped from most web browsers, and Flash support will be discontinued by 2020. Pogo and EA have no control over this change in web technology. Because of this, Pogo is retiring some of the older Flash-based games from Pogo on October 31.
    • For the full list of games and additional information, please click here
    • For games that retired on June 4, please click here.
    • For games that retired on July 2 please click here.
    • To see what games are retiring on July 30, please click here.

We know some of you purchased Challenges for these games you have not had the opportunity to complete. If you don’t get them done before they retire, the Badges will be automatically awarded to you shortly after the games retire.
Please note that while these games are going away, there is always the possibility some will be updated and brought back later. Keep your eyes on the Pogo Insider for more game news!

A great reminder!

  • For the best possible gaming experience, please follow the Pogo recommendations and specifications. Having a compatible computer will help ensure games run smoothly. If you are experiencing loading issues, I strongly encourage you to check out the computer specifications listed.

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.)

Q, How do I check my Badge progress in the Treasure Chase?

A. I’ve been seeing this question come up quite a bit in the Treasure Chase Tips ‘n’ Tricks forum thread. You can view progress by clicking the “B” shield icon on the menu on the right side of the game. You can also see progress after you finish a level in each of the games. You can find answers to many Treasure Chase questions over here.

Do you have any questions you’d like to ask Pogo_Terry about the newest game about to arrive in Pogo called Mahjong Sanctuary?! If so, please leave your comment below and it may be answered in an upcoming Pogo Q&A!

Thank you all for reading the Pogo Insider this week! I look forward to July 30th when we meet again!

  • I appreciate that some programs are being face out of web technology… but could some of those favorites that were retired come back in the new programs??? Pogo will not be the same without those games!

    • Hi Alelu1968,
Absolutely! Pogo is working hard to transfer over a number of popular titles. Stay tuned to the Construction Zone section of the blog for updates as they become available. :)

  • Any chance of adding more levels to Jungle Gin? Love that game!
    Thank you.

  • really miss high stakes pokerwill there be something similar to it

  • First I want to thank you for your bi-weekly blog, it is always so well thought out and informative!
Secondly, I would like you and all your Pogo/EA team members to give some thought to the following topic. I think it is fitting that this is brought up now given club pogo and pogo anniversaries are coming up. When pogo started you had the basic games and chat. Then Club Pogo came along and you had more games, chat, weekly badges ( not right away) and lots of time when nothing interesting was happening. As time went on, weekly badges, eventually challenges, premium badges and albums etc. But here is my point of view at this time… it is WONDERFUL that Pogo/Club pogo keeps evolving and adding new games ( although almost all of the older original games are missed and some of the newer games just aren’t as good or as interesting as the old which makes me thrilled that Addiction Solitaire is returning!).And to be honest the new made-over HTML5 games are beautiful in color and graphic, there is somethng that leaves them less likeable than the original. I do understand there is no choice because of Java and Flash, so we live with that.

But look at this week/month in particular. Consider it is mid-July, a time when kids are home and needing adults to either provide entertainment or keep track of them, vacations, summer activities to do etc. And yet, for this month, at Pogo we have been given : the Chase with the elephant, daily challenges, weekly challenges, a 5 badge solitaire Badge Marathon, there was until recently also a Badge Magic thing, and I believe I just read something new is coming shortly, and if that isn’t enough they are mostly ALL very long and arduous.

Now I am aware that there are those who say “well you don’t have to do every badge” but some of us are badge addicts and we WANT to do them, just not spend every hour of the day working on them. A lot of people work in addition to all the things above, and some are retired or ill and perhaps can’t sit at a computer 10 – 12 hours a day which is about what it requires to complete all the above mentioned tasks.

I agree that having more offered beats the old days when the weekly badges lasted 15 minutes and then you had nothing until the following week. But it has been my experience that when games you start out loving are then turned into a challenge with the time or requirements to reach the goal so long, that you end up disliking the game and only play when it is a badge and sometimes not even then, it is way too long of a goal.

So, while I think the current pogo team deserves many kudos for their ( your) terrific improvements, please consider all aspects of things before overloading us at any given time :-)

Enjoy your summer Pogo_Llama.. here in the Chicago area we have an excessive heat warning for 3 days now.

    • Hi MableRocker,
I hope you’re keeping cool in the hot Chicago summer heat! I lived in Chicago for quite some time and can remember quite clearly how hot and humid the summers are.
I appreciate you taking the time to provide your thoughts on the wide selection of Marathons here in Pogo.
Please have a great week and take good care.

  • The entire reason I came to Pogo in the first place in 2008 was because of Trivial Persuit. I have played it every day since. I hope you plan you keep it around as I notice it has not yet been converted to HTML5. By the way, a co-worker is a regular Pogo player and it was because of her I heard of Pogo. Congratulations on continued success, I look forward to all the coming changes!

    • Thank you and your coworker, Ladyhawk5454!! Have a great weekend and there are many things to look forward to here in Pogoland. :)

  • Please consider reformatting hearts. It’s one of the most popular games on Pogo/

    • Quite agree yes like hearts & the dogs.
Also, please consider too, Have Dice City Roller back,
made a lot of friends in there..ty.

    • I hope you get Hearts back….one of my favorite games!

  • So many of my Pogo friends are here for the card games. The number of players is always high for two of my favorites – Canasta and Spades. Please, please, please add more ratings for these games. All of the mahjong games and HD games might be great for some, but the people I have played with for years in these two games just ignore them. However, we are feeling frustration at being ignored. Check the numbers- there are a lot of us. Any plans for these two games?

    • Hi Cobbyjaniew,
If I hear anything about Canasta and Spades, I will let you all know in the Pogo Insider’s Construction Zone section.
      Thank you for your request.

  • Hi Pogo Llama,

Happy Anniversary to Pogo!! One of my favorite places to be. I wanted to say how happy I am to see Pogo Addiction Solitaire coming to HD soon. One of my favorite games on Pogo and also love that it has the unique game play that only Pogo can bring to it’s players. Mahjong Sanctuary look’s interesting and Bookworm I don’t recall so glad it will be at least new to me lol.

I am curious, does anyone have 20,000 Gems?

I also wanted to say if you can please pass along to the team. I know when we had Spooky Slot’s it was really popular and was brought back for players to enjoy year round. I think it would be great to have Spooky Slot’s in HD or even a Christmas Slot that we can go to every year and play as we used to. Starting fall and through New Years is my favorite time of the year. I loved going to play Spooky Slot’s, always meeting new player’s and having so much fun everyday.

Thanks for all the Marathon’s. I do my best on them and actually about to finish all that are out so far for this month lol. I am usually not so ahead. I didn’t finish the Magic Marathon by one badge. I got held up on Gin. Man that little guy goes gin before you know it lol. It’s okay, it was fun playing.

That’s for all the hard work Pogo does, it’s really been a great place for me this year.

    • Hi Brewncorn36,
Thanks for stopping by and reading the Pogo Insider from last Tuesday. I think it’s really great that you give these Marathons a go! Congrats on participating and I know what you mean about that Jungle Gin, it can be hard!
Thanks for being a part of Pogo and have a great week.

  • When will new episodes for clue be released? It has been a long time since any were released.

  • Happy Birthday Pogo! I look forward to even more awesome games and more fun for over the years, Love from over the pond, UK! <3

  • hoping you will bring back texas holdem

  • What would be really good for Club Pogo’s 16 going on 17? A game like or similar to the worldwide sensation – Angry 🐣🐦🐔🐤🐥Birds!!! 😉

  • Happy Anniversary Pogo thank you for all that you do. Looking forward to many more years together.

  • Ive asked this twice before but you didn’t respond. I’ve been a Pogo Club member for a lot of years & I was just wondering when my favorite game ‘JUNGLE GIN’ is going to be made into a HTLM game. I’m so eager to see what it will look like. Please respond. Thank you!

    • Hi LadyBug,

Thank you for your suggestion about Jungle Gin. If I have any updates, I’ll let you all know in the Construction Zone section of the Pogo Insider. Thank you!

  • The majong gardens is nice, but the backgrounds make it hard to see the tiles. Just my opinion but the brightest background is blinging.

  • So glad you are bringing pogo addiction back. My favorite java game.Thank you!!!!!!
