Hello Pogoians!

Happy June to you all! We’ve got a fun summer planned here in Pogo. Rainy Day Spider Solitaire HD and Mahjong Garden HD both arrive this month, and a brand-new Magic Marathon will begin tomorrow!

Annnnnd… the HTML5 update to the SCRABBLE game is now available! Please check it out and let me know how much you’re enjoying it. I created a thread in the Pogo forums for your feedback. Thank you!

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

Website updates:

  • Flash Retirements – Java and Flash, two technologies that have powered Pogo games for many years, are being phased out across the internet. Support for Java has already been dropped from most web browsers, and Flash support will be discontinued by 2020. Pogo and EA have no control over this change in web technology. Because of this, Pogo is retiring some of the older Flash-based games from Pogo on October 31st. For the full list and more information, please click here.

Website updates

  • Coming soon: A new Pogo experience – Click here for more information on how to gain early access.
Java Game Retirements – With Java and Flash technologies being phased out across the internet, we will be retiring some of the Java and Flash games on Pogo in June and July. Please click here for the list of the games retiring today, June 4. For the July 2 game retirements, click here, and then click here for the list of the games to be retired on July 30.  We know some of you purchased Challenges for these games you have not had the opportunity to complete. If you don’t get them done before they retire, the Badges will be automatically awarded to you shortly after the games retire.
  • Please note that while these games are going away, there is always the possibility some will be updated and brought back later. Keep your eyes on the Pogo Insider for more game news!

Here’s some information about upcoming updates and changes from recent blog articles:

  • Mini Mall – Please note, there will no longer be items added to the Pogo Mini Mall as we focus on bringing new content and updates to other parts of the site. Your wardrobe of Mini items will remain available to you, along with tons of items in the store.
  • Tokens – As many of you are aware, the current token system will be replaced with a new awards system. As stated in a May 2018 blog, I, and the rest of the Pogo team, know this is a point of contention for some of you. For those of you for whom tokens provide a way to project status and achievement over time, we hear you and we understand your aversion to losing this status. Tokens in the current Flash and Java games will remain and will not be removed. We thank you for your understanding. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming system.
  • Chat – We know a lot of you guys love chat and consider it a critical feature. We’re aware of the many requests for chat to be updated and to be returned to the side of the game screen. The team here is looking into it. I’ll give you an update as soon as I have one!
  • Pogo recommendations and specifications for your computer have been updated as of August 14, 2018.  These are the recommended specifications for playing Pogo games smoothly on your computer. If you are experiencing loading issues, I strongly encourage you to check out the computer specifications listed. Having a compatible computer helps ensure the best possible Pogo experience!

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.)

Q. Why do you not support certain browsers? I use IE 11 for HD and it works for me.
A. Unfortunately not all browsers work the same for all players and this depends mainly on their computer system and setup. While Pogo may work on a number of different platforms and browsers, we cannot guarantee this will provide the best experience. Therefore, we can only support browsers that we know can provide the very best Pogo player experience. A reminder to look at the system specifications which you can find by clicking here.

Q. Will there be any new Premium Badge Albums coming up?
A. Thank you to all who have been inquiring on Premium Badge Albums. At this time, there are currently no new Premium Badge Albums in the works. However, previous Premium Badge Albums are still available for purchase in Badge Central. Pogo has plenty of new and exciting Badges in the works, with Platinum Badges being the latest example. Check them out in Badge Central!

Thanks again for reading the Pogo Insider. I have the comments open and am looking forward to hearing how you’re enjoying the Magic Marathon and the all new SCRABBLE!

Always remember you have what it takes and you matter. :)

Cheers,

Pogo Llama

  • I to would like to see Pogo Addiction solitaire and lottso come back

  • Thank you for the improved Rainy Day Spider and Tri Peaks games…charming & fun. Is it possible to add new Seasonal & Holiday Expressions? We keep using the current ones over & over for everything. If this is not in your jurisdiction, I apologize. Have a great day!

    • Thank you for your feedback on Rainy Day! So happy to hear you’re enjoying it.
Unfortunately there will not be any additions to the Expressions at this time, but I thank you for the suggestion!

  • I stated above about bringing pinochle back and I would like to say your prensitation of the game was far superior to the other on line pinochle games! Please bring it back!!

  • TO ALL POGO CODER’S, DESIGNERS, ENGINEERS, DEVELOPERS, & All Other Staff: There are a few things to thank you for. 1. the MY COLLECTION PAGE and the way we are able to go into our game award books to see what we have earned and where we need to work next; but all the separate albums that we have to do and have completed. 2. When one goes to a game it is so easy now to scroll below the game and click on Wednesday challenges, mix n’ match and premium games; but wait there is more! to the right of that are all the award badges you can earn within the game itself. 3. Education & Information: Since all the information regarding JAVA & FLASH both leaving were reported on CNET and other computer magazines; POGO has been at the forefront of keeping all its’ members educated and informed. 4. POGO has come a long way, from not having a home to becoming a part of the EA game system and has created many awesome games along the way. It is sad to see so many games leaving us so quickly, and even though I have expressed concern at the forum regarding the fact that TABLED GAMES such as Euchre, Spades, Hearts, Canasta, etc as to whether you can re-create the room lobby (i.e. Blue Bayou) with the individual tabled access to accept up to 4 players. When I first joined POGO off AOL (there was no pogo dot com) all those card games were already here and the community was built around them. I can see POGO setting aside some of them, but they all the original POGO games should be renewed for the old-timers. So thank you for all that you are doing and for informing us about issues.

    • Thank you so much for your feedback, SwanMoon. I’m happy you’re enjoying so much about Pogo and you can definitely look forward to more games being transferred over to HD technology. Thanks again and take good care.
