Blog Post #102 – April 9, 2019

Hello Pogoians!

Thanks for stopping by to catch up on the latest Pogo news!

How are you doing in the Great Egg Hunt? Share your progress below in the comments and let me know which parts you like best. Please also check out the Great Egg Hunt FAQ!

A couple blog posts back (Blog Post #100 from March 12, to be specific), I asked which Pogo games you didn’t quite like at first, but later came around to enjoying. I had a lot of fun reading through the stories you shared and found them pretty inspirational. The most popular game mentioned was Quinn’s Aquarium!

For me, Crossword Cove HD went from being my least favorite to most favorite. I remember my great grandmother (who we endearingly referred to as Nana), would play through a crossword book with a pencil. I’d watch amazed as she answered clues that baffled me. I was intrigued but also doubtful that I could ever do that. Fast forward to 2018 when Crossword Cove moved from Flash to HD. I gave it a try for the Got Ya Covered Badge. It took me awhile to get the hang of it, but after that first Badge, I was hooked and now I’m trying to do every Challenge for Crossword Cove HD. “Trying” being the key word– it’s still a work in progress. Quite the memory. Thanks for reading my story.

Have you ever wondered what different teams on Pogo do? Do you have a question for the art team or perhaps the engineering team? If so, leave your question below and I will share some answers in a new feature called “Ask the Pogo Team,” coming soon to the Pogo Insider.

Welcome to the Construction Zone! Here is where you will find the latest on game updates. What is currently “under construction” on Pogo? As often as I can, I’ll sit down with the Pogo team and get the latest info on which games are being worked on and what’s coming. I will always post more details when I have them available. Please understand updates are subject to change.

Please understand that unless an announcement comes directly from EA and/or Pogo, we cannot endorse it as true. All games and updates reported here in the Construction Zone have been given the “go ahead” and are on track to come out. Anything else that is reported is speculation right now.

10 Game Badge Marathon – slated to begin 4/10 (So soon!)

After June, new Claire Hart: Secret in the Shadows cases and episodes will arrive every few months, following a quarterly release schedule.

New Games

Word Search Daily HDThe classic word search game is scheduled to join the Pogo HD family on April 23.

Website updates

Coming soon: A new Pogo experience – Click here for more information on how to gain early access.

Java Game Retirements – With Java and Flash technologies being phased out across the internet, we will be retiring some of the Java and Flash games on Pogo in June and July. Please click here for the list of the June games and click here for the list of the July games.  We know some of you purchased Challenges for these games you have not had the opportunity to complete. If you don’t get them done before they retire, the Badges will be automatically awarded to you shortly after the games retire.

Please note that while these games are going away, there is always the possibility some will be updated and brought back later. Keep your eyes on the Pogo Insider for more game news!

Here’s some information about upcoming updates and changes from recent blog articles:

Mini Mall – Please note, there will no longer be items added to the Pogo Mini Mall as we focus on bringing new content and updates to other parts of the site. Your wardrobe of Mini items will remain available to you, along with tons of items in the store.

Tokens – As many of you are aware, the current token system will be replaced with a new awards system. As stated in a May 2018 blog, I, and the rest of the Pogo team, know this is a point of contention for some of you. For those of you for whom tokens provide a way to project status and achievement over time, we hear you and we understand your aversion to losing this status. Tokens in the current Flash and Java games will remain and will not be removed. We thank you for your understanding. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming system.

Chat – We know a lot of you guys love chat and consider it a critical feature. We’re aware of the many requests for chat to be updated and to be returned to the side of the game screen. The team here is looking into it. I’ll give you an update as soon as I have one!

Pogo recommendations and specifications for your computer have been updated as of August 14, 2018.  These are the recommended specifications for playing Pogo games smoothly on your computer. If you are experiencing loading issues, I strongly encourage you to check out the computer specifications listed. Having a compatible computer helps ensure the best possible Pogo experience!

Every week I answer a non-technical question related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. Please ask your non-technical related question in the comments section of the blog.

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.)

Q. Will my favorite game be transferred over to HTML 5?
A. I realize this has been in the blog a few times now, but I felt the need to answer it once again as it’s been asking a number of times. Yes, there’s always a chance for updates. The Pogo team is reviewing and updating many Java and Flash games. Make sure to check the “Construction Zone” section of each blog posting for more information as it becomes available.

Thanks for tuning in to the 102nd edition of the Pogo Insider. I hope you’re having a very fun week playing all the new games and events, including Sweet Tooth Town and the Great Egg Hunt!

  • Pogo Llama,

I enjoyed this challenge because I can finish all of the games or there are alternatives to buy a game to finish the challenge. I do not know how to play Poppit Bingo and every challenge has at least one or more PB games in order to complete the challenge. I finish all other games but I have a long list of incomplete challenges that are incomplete because of Poppit Bingo. I have tried to get help but I just do not understand one of the seemingly loved games. Do you have any suggestions? I have studied the videos on Badge Hungry with no luck. I really think I am missing a chunk of understanding as I cannot understand how to make gold balloons or collect cash or make a lot of Bingos.

I do love POGO and this has been fun since 2001 for me. I really miss the game Lottso, the team game and Word Whomp Whackdown, another challenging game word game to master. I really like Quinn’s but it is really very hard sometimes and I like to figure out a game rather than buy power ups and these are really way to expensive. I have spent some major bucks playing this game. I keep playing but I can’t afford to spend all of this money on power ups.

Love the Egg Hunt games and challenges. Thanks for your information and suggestions. Rlc1933

    • Hi RlC1933,
Thank you for commenting and asking your question about where to go for questions for the Poppit! Bingo Egg Hunt Challenges. I recommend heading over to the Pogo Forum, which you can reach by clicking here. The reason I encourage players to go to the Pogo Forums is because there are many threads there where other Pogo players are helping give their best tips and tricks for all of the games and Challenges.

Thank you for the other feedback you’ve provided as well. I am glad you are enjoying several of the new HD games here in Pogo. Quinn’s is a great game and it may take some time to master, but you can and will do it. I believe that you have what it takes.
Have a great week and thanks again.

  • hi pogo could the card game payday freecellbe able to make the game larger as on other sites

  • I enjoy the marathons and the Egg Hunt as well. However, you are ending all my favorite games such as Cribbage, Euchre, Pinochle, Casino Island Blackjack, Blackjack Carnival, Ride the Tide, Penguin Blocks… my 3 favorites are Cribbage, Euchre and Pinochle. Please bring those back and add all the games into the marathons, not just the brand new ones, most of which, I am not a fan of… except for Poppit Bingo and Jet Set Solitaire, I really like those.

    • i am all caught up on egg hunt, waiting for new challenges to start up. i have 74 or 75 points so far.

  • I enjoy some of the new games but love the older ones much more especially the card games like canasta where you play and chat with other members. If you check you will see thousands playing canasta on any given night. I am not rich enough to keep buying gems to be able to buy power-ups and some games will not enable you to get to new levels without them. I have given up on several games after trying to get past a next level after months of trying. Could you create games where gems are not needed? Being a member from almost when pogo was created, I have lost a lot of my favourite games. This is very disappointing and frustrating. Please consider the number of members feeling the same way. Hope you will be able to save some of the java and flash games. Sincerely wishing you all the best.

    • Hi clikher1,
I really appreciate your feedback and thank you for being a part of Pogo for so many years.

  • Question–are there 2 groups of games being deleted in June (6th and 18th) or 1 group in June (6th) and 1 in July–maybe the 18th?

    • Apologies for any confusion.
Here is the list of the June 6 Java game retirements.
Here is the list of the June 18 Java game retirements.

      Thank you.

  • I am not a happy player, I have tried to get this straightened out but to no avail. I played all
the games in the winter marathon, could not do the slingo blast, but BOUGHT the 1st class solitaireHD for 40 gems instead and won that game. was I shocked to find slingo blast in my album for me to do, so because of pogo I cannot have my album finished. I am sad that all my playing has brought this slight to me. Disappointed in Pogo!!I should not be expected to play slingo blast when I bought gems to play 1st class solitaire instead. Shame on you!!!

    • Hi Peod,
Are you talking about the Winter Magic Marathon or the Dual Challenge?

  • I’d love to see a Backgammon HD game with new badges! :)

  • I’m not backing down

The Egg Hunt is fun but I’m sick of marathons and how they always overlap with other events and take time away from working on other games

My suggestions for some POSITIVE change

    * DON’T RETIRE GAMES…just leave them alone and the hundreds who are able can keep enjoying them until the jump to HD is possible or they stop working
    * Reduce events to ONE a month – GOTM are fine but 2 marathons on top of Magic or Quests or the Egg Hunt is overwhelming
    – The 10 badge marathons are way more fun than the 5 badge ones
    – If there has to be a second event why not do a Site Wide Challenge and include the games featured in the larger event or the GOTM and give one more reason to play and earn a beautiful badge rather than just another trophy or medal with a boring number chat icon?
    * Bring more variety into marathons and events – there are 94 Flash and HD games but the same ones are always featured
    * Make more HOG giftable – Clue is the only one right now and the episodes make great gifts and forum contest prizes
    * Bring releases back to the Mini Mall even if it’s just re-releases – minis are a means of expression, the subject of many forum contests and events, and new members Club or not would otherwise miss out since the current selection is very limited (like only ONE Women’s & Men’s Clothing Bottoms…not one page but ONE pair of shorts/ jeans with a cast)

    • Thank you for all of your feedback, doglvr2010. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know your feelings. Have a good, fun, week in Pogo.

  • I like doing the badges an playing in pogo meeting people an playing games. I just wished you can find a way to keep pinochle that is my favorite game an many others to . Like to sit at tables an chat an have fun . So please try find a way to keep it. Thank Y ou

  • will you please update jungle gin to hd please im going blind and its important for me to have game clarity and these hd games have that please please convert it thank you

  • So sad to hear about Cribbage, Euchre, Fortune Bingo and so many others some of which I play daily, especially Cribbage. I don’t understand why technology can’t keep up with technology. I have enjoyed the Egg Hunt very much but short of purchasing Gems, (and I don’t purchase anything when playing games, never have, never will) there is no possible way to complete all of them :(

  • Pogo Llama PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop already with The Way With Words. Why does it always start with vowels. Why can’t you mix it up a little. I love almost all your games but, this one is not my cup a tea along with plenty other players. SS you guys are so great but, this game is no fun.

  • egg hunt is good. i wish you would keep these games hangman hijinks, word craft dice city roller, thousand island solitaire, pogo addiction solitaire ,euchre, pinochle. i love play these game.

  • I Love the Egg Hunt. However, the A Way With Words takes so long to do, I tend to go on to others challenges because I feel like I am wasting my time on AWWW. Pogo has certainly been keeping us all busy with all the albums and Egg Hunts.

  • I really dislike the majhong games (sorry for the misspellings). It really is hard on the eyes. Can we have logic problems?
    Easy ones please!!!

I have ms and it effects the eyes.

I always keep asking Ya’ll about looking into the 42 game of dominoes. It is played a lot like spades.

You are cancelling some really good games cribbage but you can not always have someone to play with so robots would be nice. I loved space hunt, word jong, pinochle,I really really do not like monopoly, risk and other other games like them. I also do not care for the new game with the candy.

FIRE amy at quinn’s. In the real world if she spent that much time on the phone she would be fired. Thank you for bringing back tumble bees. I love canasta please do not remove it. There are some really fun game games that ya’ll offer.

MS keeps me homebound ALOT.My towns population is 487. I am not allowed to drive or to go out walking along, so my pc is my best friend and I play pogo hours upon hours.

    Thank you for listening

    • Thank you for your feedback and for being a part of Pogo, a42player. We really appreciate you being here. Take care of yourself.

  • I love a challenge and try all the new games. Once I have a chance to develop a strategy for winning them I come back for more. I enjoy the marathons and badge albums too but would like to see a better mix of games so it’s not mostly one type of game. I hope chat can be added to all the games so we can play and chat at the same time. I am a host for Pogo Bowling and it’s imperative that we can do both. Thanks!

  • i am enjoying the egg hunt immensely! so far i’ve gotten all of the free challenges except one … the one egg that accompanies the “way with words” game will be one that i will pass on. for some reason i find that game excruciating. i love playing games but i like to see my progress and it doesn’t seem like i get anywhere. my favorite games of all are the clair hart mysteries and the sudoku. love love love them both. :) thanks for all the hard work that ya’ll do. it is much appreciated! :)

  • I think you are doing an excellent job. Keep up the good work.

  • I keep wondering where the weekly badge survey has gone. I love to update which was my fav and how long it takes.

  • I like both the marathons and the holiday hunts but I have finished mine now so now I have to wait for more

  • I enjoy most of the Egg Hunt marathon, but I think the harder games, i.e. Poppit Bingo, have too hard of requirement or require too many of the requirement to get the badge. I think the next marathon I will not join in on, since I play the games for relaxation and entertainment, not frustration and working hard.

  • Having fun with egg hunt badges and albums too. I am sad but totally understand why my favorite games must go. thanks for all you do. I like reading the insider :)

  • I really like the new game Sweet Town, but I cannot get into the park or go any further… not understanding how I get to continue???? I keep trying to ask others, but not one person will answer!!!! Could you help me out please? Thank you!!!

    • Hi Casper,
Yay! I’m glad you’re enjoying Sweet Tooth Town. Now, let’s get you some help on your questions…

For Sweet Tooth Town, click here for some instructions and commonly asked questions.
Have you taken a look on the Pogo forums? That’s another great place to go for game tips and tricks from other players.

  • can you please update fortune bingo…my league had to change its venue over to bingo luau..where it makes scoring more difficult. Thanks for listening.

  • I too love the Egg Hunt Challenge. I have earned all the badges to date, and have 52 points. I’m not sure I will get all of the remain challenges to reach the 104, but I’m going to give it my best shot! Unfortunately, I can’t afford to buy gems to get to 126,but I’m happy I’ll get some of the rewards.

  • Hi, I have been a club member since 2001, love playing pogo because it gives me a sense of relief after working all
day at my job. Since you are retiring two of my favorite games, (BATTLESHIP AND HIGH STAKES POOL), what are
    your plans for the following games I love;

  • Ha, guess I forgot to mention that I’m really looking forward to Word Search coming out. Hope that in time they will bring Pinochle, Pogo Addiction Solitaire, Thousand Island Solitaire and Panda Pai Gow Poker, to name a few to HD. Love Quinn’s and Poppit Bingo and as you know Poppit Party! Was so glad when they added to it, but wished they would of added more rankings. Oh, well…all in time I am sure. Know they doing their best to get as many changed as they can. Take care. Thanks again for keeping us up to date.

  • I would love to see Makeover Madness come back. It’s a cute game. Also I really miss Match and Merge.

  • what about checkers and chess are they getting retired as well?

  • Hi! I’m happy to see most of my favorite games being converted to HD, such as Lottso Express and Word Search Daily. However, I would like to see two more of my favorites converted–Dice City Rollers and Spooky Slots. The latter would look really cool in HD! Thanks!

  • I would like to see Penguin Blocks and Makeover Madness come back. Also, I hope Sushi Cat is going to be converted. I really like that one.

  • First of all I think the artwork for the special edition badges for the past few months have been awesome. Very attractive. Kudos to the graphic designers.
I am enjoying the hunt. The easy badge games have been fun and the hard badges are definitely doable. Thank you for NOT offering Cookie Connect as a free badge (not fond of that game). I would have preferred Word Whomp over Way with Words as Way with Words gets repetitive in game mode. Got as far into challenge mode as I could, and didn’t like that if you lost the game, the words were not counted.
Thanks for giving us all these opportunities for free badges. It has been a lot of fun, and like I said, the look of the badges have been nice. The weekly badges are interesting. Will you carry that theme all year? It will make for an interesting album. How about some Zuma Revenge love? :-)
    Thanks for all you do.

  • First of all let me say thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy the free badges and albums. the egg hunt is a nice change up and Im enjoying each badge. The only one I didn’t care for was a way with words. Word Whomp, in my humble opinion would have been so much better. As well as with Quinns Aquarium, not fond of that game at all, but I will do the badge anyway because Im such a badge addict. :P My Progress for the egg hunt as of right now stands at 72/126.

Also the one game I hate to see go is Euchre. I play that more than anything on here. But I understand with technology changes and upgrades we can’t always stay in the past.
Again thank you for all you do! :)

    • Thank you for your feedback! Looking forward to hearing your progress with the Egg Hunt. You can do it! Have a fun week here in Pogo.

  • One more issue – just a consistency issue. In Jet Set Solitaire, sometimes the number 9 is underlined – which is a great help distinguishing between the number 9 and the number 6 while other times even in the same game the underline is not indicated. Maybe the graphics department needs to decide which one is best. I prefer the underline, and would like to see it in all games. I have a problem in the garden solitaire games. This is difficult when trying to accomplish the 100% accuracy challenges.

  • You are doing a great job with the marathons and I love the egg hunt. Please do not change a thing.

  • Pogo Llama, I almost forgot. It was mentioned before we would be able to change our screen names after the new log in came around. Do you have any information when that will happen?

    • Howdy Brew,
I do not have an update on that, unfortunately. Thank you for asking and if I hear anything, I’ll let you know.

  • id love to see more ranks in yahtzee i llove tri peaks hd its awesome and relaxing Pogo Llama you and your team are amazing too ty all for making my days enjoyable pogo passes th etime away and i have made some wonderful people im retired and a housewife and pogo really makes my days fun tyty have a wonderful Easter would love to see new stuff in the mini mall but i understand take care and god bless from Js4629

  • The Egg Hunt Challenge has been fun – I just wish that Pogo would gift members with at least one free episode (beyond what has already been given in the past) to play challenges in games that require gems. Claire Hart, and StoryQuest are two that come to mind.

  • I am so saddened by the number of games that will be disappearing. I loved so many of those old games, such as Penguin Blocks, Thousand Island Solitaire, Lottso, Flower Daze and so many more. They are all so much better than the new games that have been coming out, although I do love Poppit Party and Poppit Bingo. I especially detest all those games that you must complete a level before you can move on to the next. At a certain point, I just give up on that game and will repeat the same level over and over to complete any challenges. Please, please, please bring back as many of the old games as you can in the new format so I can once again really enjoy Pogo.
